Megan Wynne-Jones

(she/her)

poet, writer and editor

Of Cymri (Welsh) descent, I was born in England and now live on Bundjalung country in northern NSW, Australia. I’ve been writing and making books for as long as I can remember.

I listen to what you want and work closely with you to bring your own creative project to life, using all my skills and experience.

I have decades of experience as a writer, editor, researcher and project manager. I’ve published short fiction, memoir and poetry in literary magazines, produced documentary features for ABC Radio, (Birding) written content for major exhibitions (Blue Mountains Cultural Centre) and oral history projects, (Powerhouse Museum), and was a co-author of Marrickville Backyards (winner of the National Trust Multicultural Heritage Award, 2002).

I’ve been keeping a diary since I was 11, and have long been drawn to shaping memories into narrative. My first memoir, The bird a nest, was selected for the 2017 Byron Writers’ Festival Residential Mentorship and is still in development. My more recent memoir, Torn, was shortlisted for the 2021 Byron Bay Writers’ Festival Open Writers and Illustrators Residential Retreat and is now complete. I am currently writing a collection of short memoir pieces about my working life.

As an experienced grief counsellor I’ve produced educational material (Aboriginal Grief and Loss, Australian Indigenous Health Bulletin) and have been facilitating the telling and writing of life stories for many years.

My qualifications include an MA in Art History from the University of Scotland, a Graduate Diploma in Communications from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology.
